A Proposal Above The Fog

High above the Napa Valley Floor is a place called Howell Mountain. A select group of vintners built their wineries here high above the fog. One of those wineries is Cade Winery which produces bold yet balanced high-elevation Cabernet Sauvignon. My client Michael borrowed some of that bold spirit when he was ready to propose to his love Melanie. With high clouds off in the distance, the day couldn’t be more perfect. Michael took Melanie to Cade Winery under pretense of a bit of wine tasting and meeting with the winemaker. I just happened to be standing by to capture the moment he dropped to one knee, presented a beautiful engagement ring, and popped the question. As you can see from the images, she said yes! I loved capturing the two of them Face-timing with friends and family to announce their engagement! After we toured, tasted and captured images around the property. Congratulations Michael and Melanie!

Napa Valley Engagement Session | Julia & Wade

We had a perfect fall day to photograph Julia and Wade’s engagement session. We started their photographs at Far Niente winery and then proceeded to a gorgeous view point high above Napa Valley. For the second part of their session we went to Regusci Winery where Wade had initially asked Julia for her hand in marriage. I had such an amazing time photographing and getting to know them. Congratulations Julia and Wade!

Opus One Engagement Session

Ginger & Chuck | Engagement | Opus One Winery | Napa Valley

When Ginger and Chuck suggested Opus One winery as the back drop for their engagement session in Napa I was thrilled. We tasted a little wine and captured images all over the property before heading to Yountville and Chimney Rock Winery’s vineyards. Vineyard Picnic Engagement Session

As I am photographing I am constantly struck by the beauty of the Napa Valley wine country. The endless vineyards, the warm light, and lets not forget about the delicious wine. Nicole and Stephan let me choose the location for their engagement session. I choose a few of my favorite vineyard locations in the Carneros region of Napa. We tasted wine, enjoyed the scenery and we created some amazing images.

Snowy Mountain Engagement Session | Scotti & Bob

The mountains have always been an incredibly inspiring and relaxing place for me. When Scotti and Bob told me they wanted to take their engagement photos in the snow, I was thrilled! I had a great time working with them and meeting their family. Alpental Mountain, located in Washington was a perfect choice for their engagement session. Best of 2013

2013 was an amazing year for Rubin Photography! We had weddings and photoshoots in 6 different states, across California from Napa to Los Angeles, and in destinations including Maui, Hawaii. We begin 2014 grateful for all of our incredible clients! Thank you all for the privilege and honor of capturing some of the most important moments of your lives. Happy 2014!

2013 was a great year for the commercial photography side of our business as well. From magazine covers to celebrity shoots, it was by far our busiest and most successful year! Perhaps the greatest moment of the year was a shoot for Starbucks Corporate which included a very special guest….Oprah!

I had such an incredible time working with Olivia and Patrick. We started shooting at the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco. The architecture mixed with perfect light and a very loving couple, to create some amazing photographs. As the sun was setting, we went over to the Presidio to capture photos with the city skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge. Take a look at a few favorites from their session below!

There are so many reasons… the scenery, the beautiful weather, fantastic food and wine, and of course, working with my wonderful clients. Voula and Vasili’s relationship was established in California and Seattle. There are so many special spots for them in and around the greater Los Angles area. The Montage in Laguna Beach is where Vasili proposed to Voula. For that reason, it was an ideal spot to shoot their engagement session. This was my first trip to Laguna beach, and its beauty was astounding. The views are reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. We also shot at The Queen Mary, a historic ocean liner docked in Long Beach, which is where they had their first date. Take a look at my favorites from their Southern California session below!
